BREAST SURGERY OPTIONS

breastBreast surgery has been one of the most popular cosmetic procedures since 2006 because patients have such a wide variety of options available to them.  The decision to undergo breast surgery may be medical, for instance to reduce the size of breasts that are causing back pain or to reconstruct breasts after a mastectomy.  Or the decision may be aesthetic; for individuals who have always been unhappy with the size or shape of their breasts, breast augmentation can transform the way that they feel about themselves.  And once the decision to undergo breast surgery has been made, there are still a wide range of options and choices available to match the aesthetic preferences of each individual patient, so every person can have the perfect breasts that look and feel just the way they choose.

Because breast surgery is so very individualized and customizable, it is critical to choose a surgeon who understands how changes to the breasts will impact the whole individual and who views you as a unique individual with unique needs.  Dr. Michael Spann at Little Rock Plastic Surgery in Little Rock, Arkansas prides himself on listening to and understanding what you want, and will guide you through what can be a complicated decision-making process.  His extensive experience and up-to-date training ensure that he will apply the newest and safest materials and techniques to ensure beautiful, natural-looking results.  He is pleased to offer a wide range of options for breast surgery to match your aesthetic goals, including:

BREAST SURGERY PROCEDURE DETAILS

Breast augmentation surgery is generally performed on individuals who feel their breasts are too small for their frame, or who have lost breast volume after a pregnancy or losing a significant amount of weight.  Breast augmentation can be performed either alone or in conjunction with a breast lift to correct breasts that have become saggy a result of aging and gravity.  When these two procedures are performed together, the result is a more raised and firm profile.  Breast reduction surgery will reduce the size of the breasts, generally to correct medical complications from carrying too much weight on the chest, such as back and neck pain, skin irritation, bra strap indentations, and numbness and weakness in the breast region.

If you are unhappy with the results of a previous breast enhancement, or have suffered from complications from a prior breast surgery, a breast revision may be appropriate.  Breast revisions are performed in order to replace a deflated or ruptured implant, to eliminate capsular contracture (when the implant has hardened within the breast pocket), dissatisfaction with either the size or placement of a previous enhancement, or removal of implants entirely.

Once you have decided which procedure is right for you, you will then need to select the size, shape, texture, profile, and implant material to achieve the look you want.  The exact placement of the implants, as well as the size and location of the incisions, can also have a dramatic impact on the final results.  Fortunately, todays implant materials and precise surgical techniques, in the hands of the right surgeon, ensure shorter recovery and downtime, less post-operative complications, and perhaps most importantly, more natural-looking and beautiful results.
